“The New Toronto Bizarre has woven absurdist filmmaking into the fabric of Toronto cinema and embraced an entirely DIY approach to make it happen. By working with friends, sharing resources, and creating low-budget filmmaking solutions, these filmmakers have reshaped the process from pre-production to distribution and placed community at the heart of their practices. In this panel conversation, six filmmakers will explore the origins of the movement, creating niche work, and how they find their audience. With an emphasis on keeping movies weird, this session will explore how emerging artists can work together within their communities to make the films they’re passionate about regardless of material access and how to find like-minded collaborators with whom to share their ideas.”
